Pep Guardiola breaks silence on Kyle Walker allegations as Manchester City boss discusses club’s response

Manchester City will deal with the latest allegations over Kyle Walker’s private life internally, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.

The England defender, 32, reportedly faces a police investigation after CCTV footage emerged during the week of him appearing to expose himself to a woman at a bar in Manchester.

Speaking on Friday, City boss Guardiola said the matter will be dealt with between the club and Walker behind closed doors.

He stated: “[It’s a] private issue, we will sort it internally, speaking with him. This is not the place to speak about private situations.”

Guardiola, 52, revealed his view that footballers today should be well aware of the potential for their private life to hit the headlines in ways perhaps not possible for previous generations.

When pressed on players being more careful out in public, he said: “Definitely.

“It’s completely different than years ago. They know it. When you open the door at home they need to know they will be filmed whatever they do. That is society.”
