Pep Guardiola and the Celtic model Ange Postecoglou is trying to base off prime Barcelona team

Ange Postecoglou is trying to bring a style of play to Celtic that Pep Guardiola had in the peak of his Barcelona management days.

The current Manchester City boss reinvented the term 'tiki-taka football' while at Barcelona, now commonly used to describe high-octane attacking football like he provided with a forward line of Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi. It's what John Collins believes Postecoglou is trying to replicate with Celtic on all front.

They may be out of the Champions League but the Australian set up with six attack-minded players in their final Group F home match against Shakhtar Donetsk. That approach does not waver domestically, where they have scored 14 goals in three games, and Collins insists it's great to see. "He's doing it with a budget that is miniscule compared to those two massive clubs. He's trying to produce Barcelona 10 years ago and Man City style of football.

"He's doing it for a reason and it is because that is what he loves watching. It is the hardest type of football to produce.

"He is a forward-thinking manager. He is a manager who wants his team to express themselves. He doesn't think about parking the bus, getting one shot and one goal. He has put that message to his players."
