People spot odd coincidence with Harry and William fight as 'Harold' nickname surfaces

Prince Harry has claimed his older brother Prince William grabbed him by the collar and knocked him to the floor following a heated row about Meghan Markle - and people have noticed a strange link between the feuding brothers and two famous historical figures.

In a leaked extract from his upcoming memoir Spare, which has been seen by the Guardian, the Duke of Sussex said his brother had initially met with him at Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace 2019 to talk about their relationship, but the pair began shouting at each other after William allegedly called the Duchess of Sussex "difficult", "rude", and "abrasive".

Harry then claimed he tried to calm William down by offering him a glass of water, but the Prince of Wales allegedly "came at" his brother and knocked him to the floor, where he landed on a dog bowl which "cracked under [his] back".

While the allegations in the extract have become a hot topic on social media, there's another part of the story that has left people in stitches - the nicknames exchanged between brothers.

In the text, Harry claims to have said to William when he gave him the water: "Willy, I can’t speak to you when you’re like this."

And after the altercation had occurred, Harry claimed William asked him not to tell Meghan about what had happened, to which Harry said: "You mean that you attacked me?", and William responded: "I didn't attack you, Harold."

William calling Harry 'Harold' has caught the attention of many people on Twitter, as some joked it wouldn't be the first time in history that a William and a Harold have been at loggerheads with one another.

The Battle of Hastings in 1066 was famously fought between William, the Duke of Normandy, and his Norman-French army, and the English army led by King Harold Godwinson.

One person wrote on Twitter: "There hasn't been an altercation between William and Harold this spicy since 1066."

While another shared a picture of the two historical figures as depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry, and said: "Just history repeating itself."

Other social media users were simply left in stitches over both nicknames, with some saying they are the "best revelation" to come from the leaked extract.

Someone said: "Of everything I've read, the wildest thing about this fight is Harry calling William 'Willy' and William calling Harry 'Harold'."

As someone else wrote: "Whatever about the rest of it - the best revelation here is that Harry and William call each other 'Willy' and 'Harold'."
