People saying the same thing as Eoin Ó Broin shares very different Christmas leftover recipe

Whipping up something using the Christmas dinner leftovers is a festive tradition in many Irish families but not many are making Eoin Ó Broin's creation.

While many opt for the humble turkey, ham and stuffing sandwich or even a turkey curry, the Sinn Féin politician has gone in a very different direction.

Ó Broin shared his recipe to Twitter with a photograph and while some people commented that it looked delicious, most recoiled in horror.

Taking to Twitter, the Sinn Féin housing spokesperson posted: "So what do you do with your leftover Xmas turkey giblets? Why not confit them in goose fat with garlic, thyme & allspice berries. And sure why not throw in a bit of left over cows liver for good measure. Will let you know how they get on after 3 hrs in the oven…"

One of the first replies read: "Is this some strange bushtucker trial game"

While one man said it was "looking good and delicious," dozens of others were less than impressed.

One said: "Not today, or any day Eoin," while another added, "Dear lord, that mess should be identified as a war crime."

A third commenter suggested the recipe was "gross" and another told Ó Broin to put it all in the bin.

Another joked that they would now be voting Fine Gael instead of Sinn Féin.

Another posted: "Each to their own, but jaysis that’s a rotten looking dinner. Happy holidays in anyways but be sure to brush your teeth after ating that."

Another added: "Ugh, Eoin, you're a great TD but you don't half eat some bloody awful looking concoctions."
