There's nothing quite as satisfying at Easter time than biting into a luxuriously gooey Cadbury Creme Egg. They're sweet, the texture is divine, and they're only here for a small time of the year, which makes them even more tantalisingly tasty.
But have you ever stopped to wonder what the filling actually is inside a Creme Egg? It's certainly got a unique texture - one that other chocolates fail to replicate, so what is it?
When social media users realised just what goes into the filling, they were quick to point out that 'life isn't the same', and they were seriously disappointed with the revelation.
According to Cadbury, the filling isn't made out of anything extraordinary - it's fondant.
The fondant is made of sugar, milk, glucose, syrup, cocoa butter, inverted sugar syrup, dried whey, vegetable fats, and dried egg white.
Someone took to Twitter to write: "Life isn't the same anymore when you realise the filling inside the Cadbury creme egg is just icing sugar."
One person was shocked that the inside of a Creme Egg actually contained dried egg white, commenting: "Cadbury Creme Egg actually contains egg..."
Other social media users were not put off by this, however, with one expressing their love for the gooey filling, writing: "If I knew how to make the Cadbury creme egg filling I would eat an entire bowl of it."
Someone else said that they wanted a "hollow chocolate bunny filled with Cadbury Creme Egg filling."
And, if you're a fiend for the fondant, it could be your lucky day as Subway are giving away free Cadbury Creme Egg subs completely free of charge today (Good Friday) in four of their stores.
London, Liverpool, Swansea, and Glasgow are the chosen cities to get this gooey treat and each restaurant will have a limited number to give away as only 500 of these melts are to be made.
