People planning to stay home for Valentine's Day thanks to cost of living

Almost half of us are to shun meals out for fun at home this Valentine’s Day. New research from womenswear online retailer, JD Williams, has found that Brits are planning to stay home instead of going out, and 54% will be buying lingerie for their other half.

When it comes to gifts, 68% want to spend money on their loved one – despite the cost-of-living crisis – with the average Valentine’s Day enthusiast anticipating spending £43.97.

The study also found that men will splash the cash most, spending an average of £54 compared to the £36 women have budgeted for.

Esme Stone, Head of Brand at JD Williams said: “With everyone being more money conscious, as well as the cold temperatures outside, it’s not a huge surprise that ‘in’ seems to be the new ‘out’. Celebrating romance at home is a great way to make your partner feel appreciated.”

JD Williams customers will be able to get a free Yankee candle worth £24.99 when they spend £20 or more on lingerie or nightwear with JD Williams. Visit JDWilliams.co.uk and use VAL20 at checkout to claim your offer.
