Newcastle environmental consultancy Biodiverse Consulting has added a principal ecologist to its senior leadership team. Mike Gray brings with him over 20 years of technical ecology experience plus a wealth of expertise in the renewable energy sector.
Vicki Mordue, founder and director of Biodiverse Consulting, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Mike to the team. Having worked in large and specialist environmental consultancies in the past, Mike brings with him a breadth of experience that will not only be instrumental in managing the new enquiries we are receiving but will also help manage the rest of our services such as biodiversity net gain and complex habitat and protected species assessments. His technical skills really are second to none and the team, including me, are already benefiting from his vast knowledge of the industry.”
Mr Gray added: “It really was all down to timing. I have known Vicki for years and have always respected her work ethic but due to various other commitments, I haven’t been able to take the plunge until now.”
Turntide Technologies has appointed Mark Cox as general manager of its transport business unit. Mr Cox joins Gateshead based Turntide from global power management company Eaton Corporation, where he was the vice president of innovation and commercial strategy. He also brings a wealth of leadership experience from a 20-year career in the semiconductor industry at Analog Devices (ADI) in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was responsible for ADI’s embedded processing platform.
He said: “OEMs face significant challenges as their markets shift to electrification. They must demonstrate electric versions of their products in parallel with maintaining legacy combustion-based vehicles. I am excited to lead Turntide’s transport business unit at a time when every OEM needs to step up their transition efforts. We understand the complexity of redesigning commercial vehicles for electrification and with decades of experience, we can help make the transition smoother and faster.”
EMG Solicitors , which has offices in Durham, Newcastle and recently expanded into Penrith, has grown its litigation department with the addition of experienced solicitor Joanne Blackwood. Ms Blackwood, who qualified as a solicitor in 2000, joined EMG from a practice in South Shields and works across a range of areas including general civil litigation, contract disputes, contentious probate, landlord and tenant matters, and professional negligence cases. She has has joined EMG at a time when the litigation department is growing, which currently is a six strong team led by associate solicitor, Matthew Sigsworth. Fionnuala Cottrell has also joined as a trainee solicitor.

Healthcare marketing communications agency Onyx Health has strengthened its account management and medical writing teams with two new appointments; Rosie Thompson as an account manager and Modupe Ayeni as a medical writer.
Ms Thompson joins the team at Onyx Health from Newcastle-based agency Curtis Gabriel, where she worked as an account strategist. Prior to that, she worked for bakery chain Greggs, as a retail marketing coordinator. Before making the move into agency life, Ms Ayeni worked as a PhD researcher at The University of Leicester and later taught science in Middlesbrough, as part of the Outwood Academy Trust. She brings a wealth of specialist knowledge and expertise to her new role.

Central Employment , the North East-based independent recruitment specialists, has appointed new recruitment consultant Molly Thompson. Ms Thompson joins the business from the automotive industry and will work closely with both candidates and clients as part of Central Employment’s strategy to support Teesside’s evolving industrial and commercial landscape.
From its office at the Cleveland Business Centre, Middlesbrough, she will be responsible for interviewing candidates, carrying out on-site inductions and maintaining client relationships.
