People love man's McDonald's fries hack but warn it may be illegal

A hack involving a McDonald's drivbe0thru and a large portion of fries has won an army of fans online, but some are warning it may be illegal. In the post shared online, @hellthyjunkfood uploaded a video showing a man ordering some fries, but asking for them in a large cup instead of the classic cardboard carton.

The video shows staff gathered at the hand-over window to see why a customer would make such an odd request. The driver then took his cup of fries and placed it in his car’s cup holder, allowing him to snack while driving.

In the video, which has now been watched 6.2 million times, the customer can be heard saying to staff: "It's a good idea, right? You just go like that and put it right in the cup holder."

Many TikTok viewers were so impressed by the man’s move, some went so far as to label it ‘genius’, with many questioning why they hadn’t thought of doing the same. One TikTok user said: "How in my 30 years on this Earth eating fast food have I never tried this?"

Another added: "See, this is why I love ya 'cause I never would have thought to do that until this video."

While a third kept it simple, posting: "This is genius, needs to be a thing."

However, some users were less impressed by the stunt, with one saying "my anxiety would never allow (this)." Others questioned how safe it was to ‘snack ‘n’ drive’.

A fair few in the comments had tried to replicate the idea of asking for a cup of fries at McDonald’s, only to be told ‘no’.

The RAC says: "If you get distracted while snacking behind the wheel, the police could prosecute you for careless driving if they consider you to not be in proper control of the vehicle, an offence which carries an on-the-spot fine of £100 and three penalty points."
