People from around the world are sharing the things Americans just aren't ready to hear

It’s no secret that the way Americans live looks a lot different than that of people around the world.

But still, that doesn’t mean it’s not shocking to hear just how drastic our lifestyles are different to other nations —especially when it’s thrown right in our faces.

So when Reddit user jaycool74 posed the question on the site: “Redditors from foreign countries, what's something us Americans aren't ready to hear?” many had some answers ready to go.

Let’s take a deep dive into some of the top comments, shall we?

First up is one top comment with 2.2K likes that reads, “The amount of food you waste is insane.”

This one is pretty hard to argue and undeniably true. One user—who is presumably American— chimed in with their own thoughts on our waste of food and said: “Theoretically, due to our obesity epidemic, it seems like half the food we eat is “wasted” in the sense that we didn’t need to eat it.”

“American bathroom stalls are exposed as f***, a grown man could crawl under one of em and the vertical gap has a big enough gap to make full on eye contact with anyone walking by,” wrote another person.

Another pretty indisputable comment read: “A lot of your favourite food brands make better versions of their products [elsewhere]. America often gets the short end of the stick.”

In response, one person said: “In the US they want lower price while in other countries (especially Europe) they want better quality food.”

“You DO have an accent,” another comment simply read.

“The way you add tax to everything at the till is mental. Just tell me what it costs on the fricking label!” wrote user @Sufficient_Vanilla18.

And where it concerns politics, someone else said: “You guys need more than two major parties. In fact, you need an entire range: left, centre-left, centre-right and right. Democracy means that you need to give the people a better freedom of choice than just choosing a different side of the same coin.”

But perhaps, the award for the mic drop response and ringing in an impressive 31.2K takes issue with the original poster’s diction, saying plainly: “You are the foreigner for me and around 220 countries.”
