'People forget' - Jose Mourinho makes Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers admission

Jose Mourinho has praised Brendan Rodgers for the “amazing” work he did while manager of Liverpool.

Rodgers spent just over three years in charge of the Reds from 2012-15, before being replaced by Jurgen Klopp in October of that year. Since leaving Anfield, the Northern Irishman has been at Celtic and now Leicester City.

During Rodgers’ time at Liverpool, he guided the club to an FA Cup semi-final and a second place finish in the Premier League in 2013/14. That year the Reds finished just two points behind winners Manchester City.

Despite Rodgers not winning a trophy during his time at Liverpool, Mourinho has praised the work the now-Leicester boss accomplished. Mourinho’s Roma face Leicester in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final tonight.

“Brendan doesn’t surprise me,” Mourinho told The Guardian .

“With Liverpool, people forget what he did with much, much less resources than Liverpool has now.

“He did amazing and then the Scottish history [with Celtic], people forget because people doesn’t focus much on Scottish Premier League.

“To win the [FA] Cup with Leicester and even the Community Shield, the stability in the club, the way they play, their recruitment, it is a perfect fit, Leicester and Brendan; very, very good.”
