Ian Wright has revealed why he is thankful to Jurgen Klopp and his side and addressed claims he is a 'closet Liverpool fan'.
The former Arsenal man believes if it wasn’t for the Reds, then the Premier League would be boring because City would continually dominate. Pep Guardiola’s side pipped the Reds to the title last season.
Wright, speaking ahead of the Community Shield at the King Power, also addressed the transfer activity the two clubs have recently undertaken. City added Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips and Julian Alvarez to their squad this summer.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have added Darwin Nunez to their ranks following the departure of Sadio Mane, while youngsters Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay have also joined.
“City are so good and now they’ve signed Erling Haaland as well might be the final piece in their jigsaw,” Wright told ITV.
“Liverpool are having to do the work they have to do to get players out to get them in whereas City are able to buy a player like this and Kalvin Phillips and Alvarez.
“Imagine if Liverpool weren’t doing what they’re doing, you’re saying how difficult it is mentally, if Liverpool weren’t doing what they’re doing City would be running away with the league. It would be boring.
“People are saying I’m a closet Liverpool fan, I’m thankful for them because we wouldn’t (have a level of competition) so they deserve credit and good luck to them - I hope they can.”
