Many of us sneak sweets into the cinema to avoid splashing out on pricey snacks.
Maybe you are the chocolate carrier, or perhaps you have deep pockets perfect for a packet of popcorn.
The key is everyone has to come together to hide the supposed contraband, before pulling your best poker faces as you make your way past the ticket counter.
But it turns out we've been going above and beyond for no reason, as most cinemas have no rules against guests bringing their own snacks and soft drinks inside.
However, not everyone is familiar with the rules which could save a lot of stress.
As was confirmed when a cinema-goer tweeted Cineworld, Vue and Odeon asking: "Am I allowed to bring my own food and drinks into the screen?", you're welcome to bring your own goodies.
Cineworld replied: "Hey Bünyamin, as long as it's not hot or strong smelling food, you're perfectly fine to bring it with you."
Vue gave a similar response, writing: "You sure are! You're welcome to bring your own cold food and non-alcoholic drinks into any of our venues. I hope this helps."
Odeon replied: "Hi! No problem at all, we just ask that they aren't hot, too smelly or alcoholic."
In another twist, different film fans have also been shocked to learn they can enjoy their favourite cinema grub away from the big screen, thanks to Odeon's partnership with Deliveroo.
"So Deliveroo finally added Odeon on their list . Finally I can order the best nachos ever!!!" tweeted one delighted customer. Meanwhile, other fans said they'd take advantage of the offer, which is available in select cinemas, to enjoy popcorn at home.
It's a service that is sure to delight one cheese-loving mum who travelled all the way to her local cinema to buy her favourite cheese sauce.
Her successful mission, which amused thousands online when she shared her story to TikTok as @lucienna.xx, certainly caused a commotion online. Luckily, Odeon fans no longer have to go to such lengths to get their fix, or when they want to take their own sweets to a viewing, as it turns out.
