People are obsessed with Bristol's 'pasta man' after he's spotted running restaurant alone

Working in the food industry can be a stressful and sometimes thankless task, even more so when you’re having to do it alone. But one Bristol chef has been heaped with praise after a customer filmed him running an entire eatery by himself.

The now-viral TikTok post, is captioned: “Shout out to this guy". The footage then shows a man working solo - attending to tables, cooking the food and finally cleaning up after closing Magari, which is located in Wapping Wharf.

Thousands of fans loved watching him working so hard, with the video amassing almost 700K likes and dozens of gushing comments.

We tracked down Patrick Shortall, 23, after he's become an internet sensation. Patrick explained that as Magari is such a small restaurant, it’s often hard to judge which nights are going to be busy and which aren’t, hence why he was working alone.

He told us, “When you’re there by yourself there's a lot of things to keep track of, you’re cooking stuff, you’re serving so it can be pretty hectic.” While working alone can be difficult, it doesn't feel like a chore when you enjoy the job you do, Patrick said, “It’s a really nice place to work, really relaxed, really chill.”

The comments section on the video sang Patrick’s praises with many claiming they wanted to “marry him.” Others praised the quality of the food or were asking where the restaurant was so that they could come and try the food for themselves.

One person wrote: "Can I marry him pls?" Another said: "Just fell in love with the chef."

While one follower said: "This is a place I would be at weekly!".

Patrick said he was 'surprised' when his video attracted so much attention, but 'didn't think too much about it'. Magari is a small Independent business that makes fresh pasta every morning and all their sauces are homemade.
