People are moaning that the cafe at the top of Snowdon is never open

An entertainer on TikTok has gone viral after sharing her anger at reaching the Snowdon Summit Cafe only for it to be closed. The account, Outdoor Disputes, jokes about the issues people find while exploring the outdoors.

In a more recent video posted, the woman "kicks off" that the cafe isn't open after climbing 3560ft up the mountain. She says: "Why build a f****** pub on the top of a mountain and not open it? Who does that?"

She signals to the closed cafe which is the highest "re-fuelling station" in England and Wales, and her video has prompted many questions. Some posted that she should have checked before hiking up the mountain, however her experience will be the case for everyone deciding to make the journey this year as park officials say the venue will be closed for some time.

Viewers were quick to comment on their similar experiences, Lauren Harwood wrote: "We went two weeks ago on a Saturday and it was closed - Fuming!!!! Why bother having it? We were desperate for a cheeky bev to celebrate." Joanna Edwards added: "I live nearby!!! All the times I’ve been up it was open once." Another added that the cafe has been closed since lockdown.

On the Snowdon Railway website, the Summit Cafe is listed as selling a selection of "hot and cold drinks and handheld snacks," including "warming Welsh pasties to freshly baked cakes."

However, it also states that the cafe and Gift Shop are "closed until further notice," meaning those heading to the summit will have to make sure they pack provisions for the climb.

The closure is due to work being completed on the railway mountain track. A statement posted on their website reads: "The destination for the 2022 season is Clogwyn Station, which is ¾ distance to the summit of Snowdon.

"The summit building, Hafod Eryri, will remain closed for the 2022 season as there will be no access for service trains or staff, as a result of essential upper mountain track work and will open as normal for 2023. We apologise to any customers who wished to travel to the summit but hope they can still appreciate the fantastic and unique journey up to Clogwyn."
