People are just realising you can cook boiled eggs in air fryer for perfect yolk

Air fryers have changed the cooking game in the kitchen for many. Having dominated shelves within the past year, people are still discovering what more the appliance has to offer.

From rustling up a full roast chicken to baking tasty cakes in the versatile appliance, you might have thought you've seen it all, but some savvy foodies are proving that we've barely touched the surface with what it can do. The energy-saving device has the ability to cook a selection of dishes - with the latest discovery adding hard-boiled eggs to the menu. Yes, you heard that right.

You can achieve the perfectly runny or hard-boiled egg without even having to heat a pot of water, according to lifestyle experts at Cath Kidston.

Putting the phrase 'putting all your eggs in one basket' into action, the method allows people to cook multiple eggs in one go within their air fryer.

The instructions are simple - start by placing the eggs in the fryer basket without water.

Then, cook your eggs at 150C for your desired yolk finish.

Cath Kidston lifestyle experts explained: "Forget about grabbing pots and pans and waiting an age for the water to boil, that's old school. Instead, to make the perfect boiled eggs, all you need to do is pop them in the air fryer at 150°C and go about your day while they cook.

"As a guideline, cook them for eight minutes to achieve soft-boiled eggs (with a lovely runny yolk to dip your soldiers into), ten minutes for medium-boiled eggs (enjoy a bright orange, sticky yolk that'll look great as an Instagram post), or 12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs."

Alternatively, if you're hoping to stick by the original method of filling a pan with boiling water, then why not take advice directly from a cooking expert?

Explaining how to obtain a 'perfect' boiled egg, chef Jamie Oliver explained his 'rock solid method'.

To start, you should keep your egg at room temperature and not in the fridge. Then, fill a pan with boiling water and add a 'tiny, tiny, tiny pinch of salt'.

"[The egg] goes in a slotted spoon, pop it in the water, and just dip the egg in and out two or three times - then gently place it on the bottom of the pan," Jamie explained.

To achieve a soft-boiled egg, he advises: "It's five and half minutes on the head. Set your timer and get ready to go."
