People are just discovering what star stickers on Home Bargains price tags mean

We're all familiar with the lucrative yellow stickers in supermarkets, allowing savvy shoppers to land amazing deals on goods. But these golden tickets to deals and discounts aren't exclusive to food, as fashion fans often point out the meaning behind secret labels in the likes of Zara and TK Maxx to help others find the best offers.

Many people have been stumped recently after discovering a mysterious red sticker with a gold star stuck on price tags in Home Bargains stores, and the truth behind them might surprise you.

If you were left equally as confused in the Home Bargains aisle, wondering what the sticker means, fear not as other customers have figured it out - with employees confirming what it's actually for.

The explanation appeared in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook, which is devoted to chat about getting the most out of your shopping.

In one post, a man called Jake asked: "Just a quick question, does anybody know what these red star stickers are for?

"I was thinking special offer or managers special but the items I have seen them on haven’t changed in price."

Following the post, many were quick to react - with several employees of the stores even chiming in to reveal what these stars mean.

One person wrote: "It's a product we will always stock.

"It's mainly for staff so if we don't have any in to leave the price there and leave the shelf space as it should come back in on the next delivery if we sell out."

Another agreed but added there was an additional reason for them, as they wrote: "It's the 75 products that they think people buy the most."

Another staff member reiterated that the sticker is there to highlight that they will always need the shelf space for that product as the space should not be empty for a long time.

So the next time you are having a look round Home Bargains and you spot these stickers, sadly it doesn't seem to mean that there is a hidden offer - it's just for staff to help signal which products need dedicated shelf space regularly.
