VISAKHAPATNAM: A 43-year-old-man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raped a 14-year-old minor at the terrace of a private apartment in a colony under Airport police station limits in Vizag city.
Though the incident took place on July 6, it came to light on Sunday when the police arrested the accused person. The accused was identified as K Satya Rao, working as a peon in a school. The victim is also a student of the same school.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Disha Police), Ch Vivekananda said that the accused and victim’s family has been residing at an apartment in Vizag city for the past few years. The accused befriended the girl.
On July 6, the accused took her to the terrace of the apartment and allegedly attempted to rape her. Since the incident, the girl has become dull. The victim’s parents got to know about the incident, and they have lodged a complaint with Airport police in Vizag city.
The accused was booked under the relevant sections of IPC and stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was arrested on Sunday. The victim is under trauma and is shocked and she was availing treatment at KG Hospital in Vizag city.
