A Dublin pensioner who accidentally left €2,500 in a suitcase he donated to charity has appealed for the public's help.
Joe told Katie Hannon on RTE's Liveline that he had hidden the massive sum of cash in the suitcase for safekeeping. However, he forgot that the money was still in the bag when he donated it to a nearby charity shop.
The black suitcase has since been swiped up from the Down Syndrome Ireland shop with Joe urging the new owner to come forward. The retired couple had hoped to go on holidays, having waited patiently during Covid-19 pandemic.

However, these plans will have to be scrapped if they don't get the money back.
Joe said: "I stuck it in a case down deep in the lining. I had it in a small case in the attic.
"It's sort of a multifunctioning case. You can wheel it, use it as a rucksack or you can carry it.
"It was there and we had hoped that we might get away in July. Then it went on and on. We just couldn't get away.
"It's only recently then that we decided that we would look and see about booking something for maybe late August.
"In doing that, I then realised that we had the cash. When I went looking for it, I couldn't remember where I put it but when I eventually remembered I then realised that two and a half weeks ago we gave that particular case to charity shop in Templeogue.
"It really gets to your stomach when you realise what has happened. Within minutes, I went up to the shop in the hope that they might have it.
"I didn't really expect them to have it because the case was practically brand new. They said that if a good case like that comes in it goes within a matter of hours.
"That's what happened. They had no idea who has it."
