Pensioner renting driveway to Dublin Airport users who can't find parking

A Dublin pensioner is taking full advantage of the shortage of parkin at Dublin Airport by renting out her driveway.

Lynda Lawlor looked into renting the large driveway in her Santry home in 2019 when she was retiring. However, she expects business to pick up since the shortage of parking at Dublin Airport.

Motorists can park in Lynda's drive for an affordable €7.15 a day - or €50 a week which is half of what you pay at the airport. There are two Dublin Bus services very near - one of which is a 24/7 service.

Lynda's two parking spaces are available through the Parkpnp website. She told Dublin Live: "I don't think people are aware of it at all. I was retiring in 2019 and we have a large drive - it is wide and it is long. We are on the main Swords Road which goes up to the airport.

"Some of my sons said I should look at renting out a couple of spots and you might make a few bob. I googled to investigate and I came upon Parkpnp.

She added: "Then Covid hit and of course nothing really happened. Things started opening up again and the next thing I started getting requests for the parking spots.

"It was people going to the airport. People were coming up from the country, using the facility and then collecting it at all hours of the morning.

"I don't have to do anything really. I don't have to talk to them or anything like that."

Lynda said her parking space has been "tipping over" and is "starting to build up a little more".
