Pensioner hospitalised after being struck by bus in Dumbarton town centre

A 74-year-old woman was rushed to hospital after being hit by a bus in Dumbarton town centre on Saturday afternoon.

The pensioner was hit just before 3pm at Riverside Lane, near the Royal Bank of Scotland - with emergency crews racing to the scene.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We were called round 2.50pm on Saturday February 12, to a report of a crash involving a bus and a pedestrian in Riverside Lane, Dumbarton. A 74-year-old woman, the pedestrian, was taken to hospital for treatment.”

A First Bus spokesman confirmed that they were investigating the incident.

He said: “We can confirm an incident took place on Saturday February 12 at approximately 3pm involving a pedestrian on Dumbarton High Street.

“Our investigations are underway to determine the events that occurred in the lead up to the incident.

“We would like to apologise to all involved and to our customers for any disruption to the service that followed.”
