Pensioner dies three days after being struck by a car in Glasgow street

A man has died after being hit by a car on a busy Glasgow street.

The 69-year-old pedestrian had been hit by a Ford Fiesta on Kilmarnock Road in Shawlands on Friday.

Emergency services raced to the scene, near the junction with Holmbank Avenue, at around 11.30pm.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was in critical condition.

Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital this morning.

The motorist, a 30-year-old man, remained uninjured following the incident.

Police Scotland are appealing for further information as they to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Inspector Andrew Thomson, from the Greater Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are very much with the man's family at this sad time.

"We are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and would ask anyone who has not yet come forward with information to get in touch with police.

"We're also keen to hear from motorists with dash-cam footage from the area to come forward.

"If you believe you can assist our enquiries, please call 101, quoting incident 4320 of 4 March."
