Pensioner, 83, dies and woman rushed to hospital after horror A9 crash

A pensioner has died and a woman has been rushed to hospital following a horror crash on the A9.

The tragic incident took place at around 8.40pm on Sunday October 23 when a Suzuki SX4 collided with an Audi A4 at the road's junction with the B8081 at Blackford.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene but sadly the 83-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Suzuki, was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The 89-year-old driver of the Suzuki and a 54-year-old male passenger were uninjured. The Audi driver, a 31-year-old woman, was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital to receive treatment. The extent of her injuries and her current condition is not yet known.

Three teenage girls, who were passengers in the Audi at the time of the accident, were not hurt. Cops have now launched a probe into the smash and are urging anyone who has any information on what happened to come forward.

Sergeant David Farr of Tayside’s Divisional Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died following this crash.

“Our investigation is ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash take place who has not yet spoken to police to contact us.

"We are also keen to obtain any dashcam from motorists driving on the road around the time of the crash. Anyone with information should contact officers through 101 with reference 3311 of 23 October.”
