An elderly walker has died after falling into the moat of Britain's second biggest castle.
The 82-year-old man was unresponsive after he was taken out of the water of Caerphilly Castle - which has featured in several episodes of Doctor Who - in south Wales.
Emergency services dashed to the attraction at around in an attempt to save the man's life at around 7.50pm yesterday.
But the pensioner has since died, authorities have now confirmed.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and the man's family have been informed, Gwent Police said.
A post-mortem examination is now scheduled to determine the cause of death.
A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "We received a call reporting a man had been found unresponsive in the Caerphilly Castle moat at around 7.50pm on Tuesday, 4 July.
"Officers attended, along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service who confirmed the 82-year-old man was dead.
"The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious."
Several episodes of Doctor Who have been shot at Caerphilly Castle since the reboot of the programme in 2005.
At some 30 acres, the attraction is the second largest castle and grounds in Britain, only trumped by the majestic Windsor Castle in Berkshire.
