Diamond couple James and Rita Lewis celebrated 60 years of married life on Thursday.
The Penpont pair’s love affair started in their native Wolverhampton where they met at a dance.
James asked Rita if he could walk her home that night, and they’ve been together ever since, tying the knot in a church near their home on July 21, 1962.
They packed up and moved to Dumfriesshire more than 40 years ago to raise their three children Angela, Karrie and Mark.
James, 84, and Rita, 78, now have 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The doting duo are at the centre of their family and are described by their nearest and dearest as an “inspiration”.
Proud granddaughter Laura McNay said: “I don’t know what their secret to a long and happy marriage is because grandpa just always does as he’s told by grandma, but after all these years they still get on amazingly well and they are definitely an inspiration to us all.
“They are the best grandparents - loving, thoughtful, funny and always there for us.
“The whole family wishes them a very happy diamond wedding anniversary.”
