A bedridden Pennsylvania mom who was shot during a violent home invasion was saved after Apple's digital assistant, Siri, helped her call law enforcement.

Bernadette Gaudio, 61, was in her Lower Merion Township home when two suspects entered and shot her while she slept. Gaudio's son, Andrew, intervened but was fatally shot, according to reporting by ABC7.

While her home was ransacked, Gaudio, who was bedridden because of a leg injury and further handicapped after she was struck by a bullet, asked Siri to call 911.

"It was a very brave move on her part because, I think, indications are that the individuals were still in the house at the time," District Attorney Kevin Steele told ABC 7.

Gaudio remains in a hospital where Steel said she is "in a very difficult place" but is going in the right direction.

"She's paralyzed right now and trying to work through that, but she seems to be getting a little bit of movement. We hope and pray for more of a recovery from her," he added.

Police have identified two suspects and arrested one in connection with the fatal home invasion.

Charles Fulforth, 41, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, robbery and related offenses on Thursday. His co-conspirator, Kelvin Roberts, 42, remains at large.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to Roberts's arrest but police warned he is "dangerous," ABC 7 reported.
