A Pennsylvania man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend in January will stand trial for murder after allegedly confessing to the crime, claiming he acted out of fear triggered by paranormal activity.

Jared Wolfe, 46, was arrested after his brother called 911, reporting that Wolfe admitted to killing his 46-year-old girlfriend, Jane A. White, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by PennLive. White was found dead on a street in Northumberland County on January 3, having suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

Wolfe initially stated that he and White had smoked marijuana at a friend's house, but later claimed he was unsure of what he had ingested, according to authorities. He then allegedly used a "paranormal meter" on a statue and became terrified by its "high reading," believing that White and others were planning to kill and eat him. In a panic, he retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and shot White, per police testimony.

White, an artist, photographer, and caregiver, left behind two children. Heartfelt tributes on her memorial page describe her as a loving mother and a kindhearted person.

Wolfe faces multiple charges, including first-degree and third-degree murder, as well as aggravated assault. He remains in custody as he awaits trial. His attorney has not commented on the case.
