As the race for the presidency heats up, Pennsylvania emerges as the most expensive battleground state, with over $538 million in advertising dollars poured in by former President Trump and Vice President Harris' campaigns and their allies. This critical state, with 19 electoral votes, is considered crucial for securing the presidency.
According to a recent analysis by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Democrats have spent more than $294.7 million in Pennsylvania, while Republicans have invested $243.6 million. This significant spending makes Pennsylvania the top battleground state, surpassing even Michigan by 52% in total campaign expenditures.
Both presidential campaigns and their allies have made a combined total of 90 visits to Pennsylvania since January, with a majority of these visits occurring since August. Former President Trump has focused on Rust Belt towns like Wilkes-Barre and Johnstown, as well as suburbs of Philadelphia, in his bid to court undecided voters.
Vice President Harris, on the other hand, has prioritized population hubs such as Philadelphia and Allegheny County, which together account for a significant portion of registered Pennsylvania voters. Her campaign has also targeted smaller towns in an effort to reach a diverse range of voters.
Since January, Biden for President and Harris for President have collectively spent over $123.7 million on advertising in Pennsylvania, with Democratic PACs and issue groups adding another $171 million in ad spending supporting Harris. Harris and her allies have focused on Philadelphia's media market, outspending Trump and his allies on various advertising platforms.
Trump's campaign, on the other hand, has invested $52.5 million in advertising in Pennsylvania, with super PACs supporting the president contributing an additional $191.2 million. The battle for Pennsylvania's electoral votes continues to intensify as both campaigns ramp up their efforts in the final days leading up to Election Day.
