Penneys recalling children's plates over lead and formaldehyde fears

Penneys is recalling more children's plates over lead and formaldehyde fears.

The retail giant had previously recalled the Winne the Pooh plates with batch code of Kimball no. 6041901. Now, Primark is recalling more children's plates due to the "possible migration" of chemicals like lead and formaldehyde into food, according to the FSAI.

The following items have been affected by the recall:

  • Primark Bunny Character Plate - Kimball no. 8096001
  • Primark Bear Character Plate - Kimball no. 8096002
  • Primark Rainbow Plate - Kimball no. 7981401

A notice on the FSAI website reads: "Further to FSAI Food Alert 2022.49 Primark is recalling additional children’s plates. The affected plates may give rise to the possible migration into food of chemicals (lead and formaldehyde).

"Health effects are not expected from using these plates. Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in Penney’s stores supplied with the implicated plates."
