The highly anticipated new Penneys store opened its doors today in Dundrum Town Centre.
The store opens to the public following a €16 million investment by the retailer on the first floor of the old House of Fraser unit. Customers can expect a much wider range of summer fashion, accessories and homeware collections as well as a quicker shopping experience, with 32 new self-checkout tills across two floors.
The new store will also be creating 130 new jobs. Employees from the former Penneys in the shopping centre will be moving to the new store, employing 360 people in total. The €16 million investment is part of Primark’s overall commitment to invest €250 million in Ireland over the next 10 years.
Damien O’Neill, Head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland said: "I’m so delighted to welcome our valued colleagues and customers into our long awaited bigger and better store in Dundrum. This has been a significant project for our property and retail teams, and the finished result looks incredible. Between the expanded product range offering even more great-value fashion and essentials, and all our new in-store services, we think customers new and old are going to love Penneys’ amazing, expanded retail space."

The new space occupies the second and third floors and sits on the former House of Fraser site. With 60,000 square feet the new store has over 60 per cent more shopping space than its previous site.
There are also some new swanky additions to the store including a selection of vintage clothes by WornWell who are already operating in Penneys on Mary Street, and an in-store beauty salon.
