Penn State Dominates Maryland, Advances To Big Ten Championship

No. 4 Penn State showcased a dominant performance against Maryland, securing a 44-7 victory and advancing to its first Big Ten championship game since 2016. The Nittany Lions (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten) displayed a well-rounded effort on both sides of the ball, setting the stage for a showdown with No. 1 Oregon for the conference title.

Quarterback Drew Allar led the charge for Penn State, throwing for a touchdown and adding another score on the ground. Running back Nick Singleton contributed two rushing touchdowns, while Beau Pribula also found the end zone with a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown to Tyseer Denmark. Star tight end Tyler Warren made history by setting a Big Ten record for receptions by a tight end and becoming Penn State's all-time leader in touchdown catches by a tight end.

Despite a shaky start that saw Maryland take an early lead off a turnover, Penn State quickly regrouped and dominated the rest of the game. The Nittany Lions capitalized on turnovers and defensive stops, scoring touchdowns on four of their five possessions in the second quarter alone.

Defensively, Penn State stifled Maryland's offense, forcing turnovers and recording six sacks and four quarterback hurries. The Nittany Lions' depth was on display as they played backups for much of the second half, showcasing their strength and resilience as a team.

With the win, Penn State looks ahead to the Big Ten championship game against Oregon, where they will have a chance to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff with a victory. The Nittany Lions will aim to carry their momentum into the title game and continue their impressive run in the postseason.

On the other hand, Maryland's season comes to a close with a five-game losing streak, highlighting the challenges they faced throughout the year. The Terps showed flashes of potential but ultimately fell short against a formidable Penn State team.
