Pending free agent Demarcus Robinson would love to stay with Rams, and LA should want him back

So much of the attention within the Rams offense goes to Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp and Kyren Williams at the skill positions, which made veteran receiver Demarcus Robinson an underrated player for Los Angeles.

This season, Robinson put up career-highs in receiving yards (505) and touchdown receptions (7) despite being the No. 3 receiver for most of the year. He took full advantage of one-on-one matchups on the outside, proving to be the best big-play weapon on the Rams.

Robinson is a pending free agent once again this offseason and after turning in the best season of his career, he’d love to remain with the Rams. He told Greg Beacham of the Associated Press on Monday that he’ll do “whatever” to stay in Los Angeles.

It’s not enough for a player to want to remain with a team. The organization has to want that player back, too. In Robinson’s case, the Rams should absolutely be interested in keeping him for a third year.

Los Angeles could do much worse at WR3 than Robinson, who will be 31 in September and made just $4 million on his one-year deal in 2024. He’s a veteran leader who’s been to the playoffs all nine years he’s been in the NFL, which is no coincidence.

Robinson won’t cost the Rams much to keep and he’ll likely sign another one-year deal for the 2025 season, making him an affordable and low-risk signing. With uncertainty surrounding Cooper Kupp and Tutu Atwell, Los Angeles can bring back a reliable and consistent player by re-signing Robinson.

He was the only player who regularly stretched the field for the Rams and made plays down the field, doing his best to open things up for everyone else within the offense. That was the case in the team’s playoff loss to the Eagles, too, hauling in a 48-yard bomb deep down the field where he snatched the ball from the defender.

There are improvements to be made on offense this offseason, but the Rams can keep some continuity at wide receiver by bringing back Robinson and at worst, making him their WR4.
