Pellegrino Matarazzo has confirmed that he will continue as the head coach of Bundesliga team Hoffenheim, dispelling rumors linking him to the vacant U.S. men's national team (USMNT) manager role. Reports emerged suggesting that the U.S. Soccer federation had engaged in discussions to offer Matarazzo the position, with him being touted as the leading candidate for the American team. However, Matarazzo has put an end to the speculation, expressing his dedication to Hoffenheim.

In a statement on the Hoffenheim website, Matarazzo emphasized the importance of clarity and stability during this period of uncertainty. He expressed his pride in coaching the team and his excitement about participating in European competition with the squad in the upcoming season. Matarazzo also mentioned his belief in the team's potential for success with the right additions to the squad.

Hoffenheim's interim sporting director, Frank Kramer, echoed Matarazzo's commitment to the club, stating that there was never any doubt about the coach leading the team into the new season. Kramer highlighted the unity between the coaching staff and the players, expressing optimism for a fruitful season ahead.

This is not the first time Matarazzo has been linked to the USMNT, with previous reports surfacing in 2022 after the Qatar World Cup. The coach acknowledged that discussions had taken place with the federation during the search for a new manager but indicated that the timing was not suitable for either party.

Matarazzo emphasized his satisfaction with his current role at Hoffenheim, citing the daily involvement in club football and the high learning curve it offers. However, he expressed a willingness to engage with U.S. soccer in the future, highlighting his connection to the country through his family and upbringing.

As the search for the USMNT head coach continues under the leadership of U.S. Soccer sporting director Matt Crocker, the team is set to face Canada in a friendly at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City on September 7.
