Pedro Porro insists he is ‘happy’ at Sporting amid strong Tottenham interest

Pedro Porro has insisted he is “happy” at Sporting despite Tottenham continuing to push for the wing-back.

Talks between the clubs are ongoing, with Sporting insisting the €45m release clause must be paid in full but Spurs hoping an agreement can be reached.

There have been suggestions of a player being included in the deal, or potentially Tottenham removing the 50% sell on clause they have in Marcus Edwards’ contract.

Whether a deal can be agreed remains to be seen but for now Porro remains a Sporting player, and he scored and provided an assist in their win over Vizela on Friday night. He pointed to the Sporting badge after scoring from the penalty spot.

Speaking after the match, the 23-year-old maintained he was not paying any attention to speculation surrounding his future.

“I’m not talking about the possibilities on the market - about staying nor about leaving”, Porro told SportTV.

“I’m focused on Sporting and I’m happy here.”

Sporting boss Ruben Amorim reiterated the club’s stance that Porro’s release clause must be paid if a deal is to be done.

“I can’t guarantee anything,” he said. “It doesn’t seem to me that he will leave.

“To leave at this moment, he has to leave due to the clause. That is the knowledge I have.”
