Pedestrian rushed to hospital after being 'hit by vehicle' on Scots road

A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after being involved in a collision with a vehicle in Glasgow.

Police and ambulance crews were alerted to the scene at around 5.20pm on Thursday evening on Cumbernauld Road in the Haghill area of the city.

The pedestrian was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment following the collision, reports Glasgow Live.

Medics have described his condition as serious.

Footage captured at Cumbernauld Road shows emergency services in attendance.

While a white van appears to have its front windscreen damaged.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 5.20 pm on Thursday, 21 April, 2022, police were called after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Cumbernauld Road, Glasgow.

"The road is currently closed westbound on Cumbernauld Road at Alexandra Parade, Glasgow.

"The pedestrian has been taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"No details on injury, if any at this time."
