Pedestrian rushed to Glasgow hospital after being struck by a van in east end

A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Glasgow.

The collision took place around 5:20pm this evening on Cumbernauld Road in the Haghill area of the city.

Police and ambulance crews were alerted to the scene and the pedestrian was taken to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

The current condition of the pedestrian is unknown.

Footage from the scene, sent to Glasgow Live, shows the emergency services in attendance and a white van with its front windscreen damaged.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 5.20 pm on Thursday, 21 April, 2022, police were called after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Cumbernauld Road, Glasgow.

The road is currently closed westbound on Cumbernauld Road at Alexandra Parade, Glasgow.

"The pedestrian has been taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"No details on injury, if any at this time."
