A man in his sixties who was walking near a residential road in Hounslow, south west London, has died after a collision.
The Metropolitan Police have said the tragedy happened at around 2.30pm on Friday at the junction of the A4 with Springwell Road.
The force was called to the scene by the London Ambulance service who also contacted London’s Air Ambulance as part of efforts to revive the man, but were unable to.
A statement from the Met read: “Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian, aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are working to inform his next of kin.”
The force has not made any arrests but is appealing for information as part of their investigation.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called yesterday (12 January) at 2.26pm to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian on Great West Road, Hounslow.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“Our first medic arrived in approximately six minutes.
“We treated a man, but unfortunately, despite the best efforts of our teams, he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Any witnesses, or those who have dash cam footage of the incident or moments leading up to it, are asked to call 101 ref CAD 3609/12 Jan.
There was another death as part of a collision in Hounslow last August. Last week a plain-clothes Met Police officer was sacked after a man thought he was being robbed during a stop-and-search in west London.
