Pedestrian hit by car at Para Hills West while two cars crashed at Port Elliot

South Australian police are at two serious crashes. (ABC News: Michael Clements)

A car has hit a pedestrian in Adelaide's north-east in one of two serious crashes in the state.

The collision happened on McIntyre Road in Para Hills West about 6:50pm on Monday.

McIntyre Road is closed for west-bound traffic between Bridge Road and Simpson Street.

About 6pm, police and emergency services rushed to a two-car crash on Port Elliot Road at Port Elliot in the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area as the road, near the Basham Beach Conservation Reserve access road, has been closed to all traffic.

Last week, South Australia Police fast-tracked a new campaign in a desperate bid to improve driver behaviour as the state's road toll continues to rise.

Police issued a public appeal for road safety after two schoolchildren were hit by a truck at a pedestrian crossing in Adelaide's eastern suburbs last week.
