Peaky Blinders fans were buzzing on Sunday evening as heartthrob Tom Hardy returned to the small screen to take up his role as the iconic Alfie Solomon.
The hit BBC drama series has returned for its final series and fans were elated as Tom's character returned for the second episode.
In an ominous introduction to series six for Alfie, Cillian Murphy's Thomas Shelby was seen walking through a darkened distillery with the lights flashing on as he walked by.
In the background was the famous opera Nessun Dorma and as Tommy made it to the end of the row he was greeted by the cockney character.
Alfie hilariously quips: "I always thought opera was fat people shouting," as viewers were reintroduced to the character.
As Alfie and Tommy get involved in an intense discussion, the Brummie man tells his associate: "Alfie, I think I may have written your final act."
As the men negotiate their business deal which was regarding the exportation of heroin to the United States, Alfie asks why he should choose to enter into business with the Shelby family.
He then tells Tommy: "America was supposed to be my masterpiece."
The scene was met with a host of positive online comments as viewers had pined for Tom's return.
One Twitter user wrote: "ALFIE HOW I HAVE MISSED YOU."
Another commented: "Watching this week's ep of Peaky Blinders. Tom Hardy's back and I'm SO happy.
"The NOISE that came out of my face when I saw Alfie Solomons again."
A third wrote: "Even by his exceptionally high standards, that's Tom Hardy's finest 5 minutes of Alfie Solomons yet."
And a fourth gushed: "Tom Hardy back on my TV screen is just the remedy I needed today. #PeakyBlinders"
Tom has been in and out of the popular drama since series two as he headed up a Jewish gang in London.
He has gone on to form an alliance with the Shelby family and has wowed fans throughout with fantastic performances.
Elsewhere on episode two, fans were left emotional as the voice of Polly Gray - played by the late Helen McCrory - was heard in the opening scenes.
Her voice, from a scene from an earlier series, was heard as a voice in Tommy's head as he returned home to the UK from the US.
She is heard saying: "There will be a war in this family, and one of you will die."
