Peaky Blinders season 5 episode 2 introduced fans to the new villains and gang in town - Scottish gang the Billy Boys, led by the ruthless Jimmy McCavern (Brian Gleeson).
The Billy Boys plan on capitalising on the complacency of Tommy Shelby ( Cillian Murphy ) as he focuses on politics, paranoia and self-destruction.
However, this violent gang left viewers utterly horrified when they proceded to attack the camp of Tommy's ally Aberama Gold ( Aidan Gillen ) and his son, boxer Bonnie Gold ( Jack Rowan ).
Sending a brutal message to Tommy, McCavern brutally beat both of the Golds before stringing up Bonnie to a wooden cross and 'crucifying' him before finally shooting him dead in front of a devastated Aberama.
Taking to Twitter , fans expressed shock, horror, and anger at the new villains and what they did to Bonnie.
One viewer expressed their sadness: "omg Bonnie :(((( #PeakyBlinders "
Another felt horrified by what happened to Bonnie: "Heartbreaking I was screaming at tv. Lovely character. So innocent and so unnecessary - he wasn't going to hurt anyone (except in the boxing ring)"
One user concurred with the feelings of sadness: "NGL I shed a tear when they killed bonny @ThePeakyBlinder #PeakyBlinders "
Some just felt cheated by the lack of Bonnie content this season: "They really had us fooled into thinking Bonnie Gold had a bigger role only to kill him off like that? #PeakyBlinders "
Others were just impressed by the chaos that the new villains have been causing:" BILLY BOYS HAVE ENTERED THE CHAT AND THEY’re terrorizing the f**king group #peakyblinders "
Finally, others were just pleased that Peaky Blinders is back with a bang: "The last 10 minutes of #peakyblinders episode 2 had me watching through my fingers. Haven’t seen such brutality on TV in a long time. Lovely stuff, can’t wait for episode 3!"
