PDC World Darts Championship has extra buzz after wasp falls asleep on David Cameron during first round

There’s always a buzz at this time of year as the PDC World Darts Championship gets underway.

But David Cameron experienced a bit extra after a wasp fell asleep on the back of his shirt. The Canadian played English opponent Ritchie Edhouse in the first round as part of the Monday evening session at the Ally Pally. The tournament got underway last week as arrow throwers from around the world go head-to-head to determine who the best on the planet is.

Leo Messi was on top of the world on Sunday evening, and while those competing at the London venue won’t share the athleticism of the little Argentine, there’s sure to be no little finesse on show at the oche. The darts fans always lap it up and the atmosphere, unlike in Qatar, certainly is fuelled by pints which are very much on sale, unlike in the Gulf state over the last five weeks.

There was a sting in the tail for France at the end of the final, but thankfully not for Cameron as he took on his British opponent. The camera picked up the black and yellow of the wasp, which appeared to be sleeping in his back as play went on, both players seemingly oblivious.

It was only when points counter Russ Bray pointed it out that Camerona realised. And it was then that the wasp finally fell off. Cameron shrugged off - literally - his uninvited host to ran out victorious by three sets to two.
