Is PayPal down? Users say services 'back up but with issues' after payment app crashes

PayPal has reported suffering a “system issue” that has been causing issues for the payment app worldwide.

The issue may have been affecting multiple PayPal products, including account withdrawal and express checkout, it said in a post on its service status page.

“Our technical teams are actively working towards resolving the issue,” it added.

Customers around the world globally have reported being unable to log in to their accounts.

Platform outage monitor Downdetector has received thousands of reports from users.

Users on X, formerly Twitter, posted screenshots of an alert telling them “please check your entries and try again” when attempting to log in.

In comments posted on Downdetector’s website since 1pm BST, users have reported that services were running again but with “issues”.

PayPal said its cryptocurrency services and peer-to-peer payment app, Venmo, were among its services affected by the outage.
