Paulo Bernardo completes Benfica to Celtic loan move

Celtic have completed the signing of Paulo Bernardo.

The midfielder, 21, joins the Scottish champions on loan from Benfica.

He has signed on an initial season-long loan, with Celtic obtaining the option to buy the player at the end of that deal.

His Benfica contract runs until 2027, so Celtic will be expected to pay a significant fee for him next summer should they decide to do so.

Bernardo could be in line for a quickfire debut for the club when they face arch-rivals Rangers this Sunday.

He is capable of playing in midfield or slightly further up the park in the number 10 role.

Bernardo joins Brendan Rodgers' first team setup at Parkhead after a late flurry of transfer action by Celtic.

Luis Palma was confirmed on Wednesday evening, arriving on a five-year deal from Aris.

Yesterday, Nat Phillips joined on a six-month loan from Liverpool, as Rodgers bolstered his backline due to the number of injuries hampering his squad.

More to follow.
