Paul Scholes unleashes Manchester United rant as scathing pundit targets flops who have 'got away with murder'

Paul Scholes claims the Manchester United players have "got away with murder" ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

The pundit was a key part of Ferguson 's success during his playing career winning an incredible 11 league titles under the Scot.

But the Old Trafford team haven't won a single Premier League crown since Scholes' last back in 2013.

They haven't recovered from Ferguson's departure with none of David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer able to restore former glories.

And they're now toiling under caretaker boss Ralf Rangnick as he struggles to get a tune out of them.

They face Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford on Tuesday hoping to breathe some life into their season and reach the Champions League quarter-finals after their 1-1 draw in Spain in the first leg.

But Scholes isn't convinced by their chances as he said they need a coach that strikes fear into the players - just like Ferguson did.

He said on BT Sport: "To play at an elite level you need to have a manager that strikes fear into players. Alex Ferguson had that.

"Have any of the ones since then had that? No, I don't think so.

"You need to get the players to be a little bit afraid of you. The City players, and the Liverpool players under Jurgen Klopp are getting away with nothing.

"These players here have probably got away with murder over the last two or three years.

"They're a big coach away. I'm not saying they're anywhere near Liverpool or City, but I don't think they're far away from Chelsea squad-wise.

"Once they get that coach, and a couple of years to build, they'll get there."
