Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes breaking into the top four is still possible despite recent results.
The Reds were forced to settle for a point after their midweek draw with Burnley as they saw two of their three goals ruled out following the intervention of VAR.
As a result of their slip-up, West Ham and Arsenal capitalised forcing United to stumble down the standings in the Premier League.
But Scholes is still confident United can finish in the top four.
"When you looked at the start of the season you were expecting this group of players to be challenging for the league," Scholes said on BT Sports prior to their clash with Southampton.
"Now, for one reason or another, that hasn’t quite happened.

"They’ve found themselves in a real fight to finish fourth. I think they’re more than capable of it.
"I think performances of the last two or three weeks have given you a little more encouragement - okay, they haven’t scored the goals but performance-wise they’ve been okay and they’ll be looking for a strong last 14, 15 games."
The disappointment has dragged on for Ralf Rangnick as they were knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties by Championship side Middlesbrough.
Despite the results, their performance against Boro and the first-half showing at Turf Moor have provided encouragement that Rangnick's changes are starting to come to fruition.
