Former midfielder Paul Scholes has admitted that Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho reminds him of a younger version of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Garnacho, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, has been United's breakout star this season, producing a series of eye-catching performances. After playing no part in the club's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, the versatile forward has since made 29 appearances in all competitions this season, winning the trust and support of manager Erik ten Hag.
Including his last-gasp winner at Fulham just prior to the World Cup, the 18-year-old has scored four goals and grabbed five assists this season, meaning he has enjoyed an impressive campaign. His silky skills and fearless approach have meant that he has established himself as a firm fans' favourite with Old Trafford, with everyone associated with the club excited by his potential.

He has earned glowing praise throughout the campaign and would have been in line to make his senior debut for Argentina earlier this month had he not been forced to pull out of the squad through injury.
Former United man Scholes is a huge fan of Garnacho and is excited by his potential, so much so that he believes there are comparisons between the Argentine and when Ronaldo was a youngster.
"I'm really excited about him," Scholes told the Webby & O'Neill YouTube channel. "Whenever I see him I'm impressed. He's a superstar in the making.
"He's so brave in possession. He's very much the way Cristiano was as a young player.
"He doesn't mind being kicked, he gets up, he goes for more he scores goals. He's got a lot of growing to do and once he gets a manly body and physical strength, I don't think there's much stopping him."
Garnacho, who was awarded his United debut by former interim manager Ralf Rangnick almost a year ago, will be hoping to recover from his current injury and store more minutes under his belt before the end of the season. Speaking to the media just over a fortnight ago, Ten Hag refused to put a timescale on his recovery, but did warn he would be sidelined for several weeks.
