Paul Scholes agrees with Jamie Carragher on Thomas Tuchel amid Ralf Rangnick's Man United woes

Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has agreed with Jamie Carragher that the Red Devils need to go all out to get Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season with the midfielder labelling the Blues boss 'class.'

These two pundits have certainly not shied away from putting Tuchel in the same conversation as Man United since Roman Abramovich's sanctions were announced last Thursday, with Carragher even labelling Chelsea fans 'hypocrites' for their response. Nonetheless, the Liverpudlian went on to double down on his Tuchel claim ahead of Chelsea's 1-0 victory over a much improved Newcastle at the weekend in the Premier League.

“That is up to Manchester United I suppose, but the situation that Chelsea find themselves in, other top clubs will be looking at the manager and players going forward,” Carragher said via the Manchester Evening News. “He is one of the best managers in world football and Manchester United are looking for one. I think he has come out and said he is fully committed to the club, but that situation could change with the new ownership as the season goes on.”

He added: “I think it is realistic. If you’re Man United, why would you not ask that question? They need a new manager, and Tuchel is one of the best managers in the world right now." With Tuchel affirming his commitment to at least the end of the season with his 'day-to-day' admission, it seems almost impossible for Richard Arnold and co to make their move but Scholes has identified another Premier League manager, who like Tuchel, could be available at the end of the season.

He said after Man United's loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League: "I would have gone for [Antonio] Conte or Tuchel. It looks like one might be available at the end of the season. Those are two top class coaches that strike fear into players and win, which is the most important thing. United, with either one of those managers, would be much better off.

"I think they’re an elite coach away from challenging for trophies again. They’ve got a good squad with some top players, but for the last three or four years, they’ve not had an elite coach. You need a manager that strikes fear into players, Sir Alex Ferguson had that, have any of the managers since him had that? I don’t think so. It’s a special talent to have as a coach.

"Those Man City players under Pep, those Liverpool players under Klopp, they’ll get away with nothing. These players here (United) for the last two or three years have got away with murder. I’m not saying they’ll catch Man City or Liverpool, but I don’t think they’re far away from Chelsea, squad-wise, but once they get that right coach and have two or three years to build, they’ll be challenging again."

For Scholes and Carragher to be proved right, they would need any new owner to let the German go or for Roman Abramovich's successor to get rid of Petr Cech and Marina Granovskaia who Tuchel has admitted he has a good relationship with on numerous occasions in the past.
