Paul Pogba visits Mecca as Man Utd star is urged to quit in summer transfer

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has marked Ramadan by making a visit to Mecca.

The Frenchman has made the trip at the end of the last two Premier League campaigns.

Pogba, who could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer, was joined on the pilgrimage to Islam's holiest city by Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.

Pogba uploaded the pictures from Saudi Arabia, alongside the caption: "Never forget the important things in life".

The midfielder has previously visited Mecca to perform the Hajj - a journey every adult Muslim is expected to make in their lifetime.

Pogba has used the end of the season to make the pilgrimage, rather than jet out to the usual footballer hotspots, such as Las Vegas and Ibiza.

He is expected to be in the France squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers next month before a decision is made on his club future.

Pogba is a target for Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, and the midfielder has made no secret of his wish to move to the Bernabeu.

Reports suggest Pogba's wages are proving to be a stumbling block in negotiations, with the midfielder looking for around £13m-a-year.

Pogba enjoyed a revival under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's interim tenure but his form dropped off at the end of the campaign, along with his teammates.

He clashed with supporters during the lap of honour after the final day defeat to Cardiff , in what could be his final appearance for United.

Meanwhile, Pogba's former Juventus teammate Claudio Marchisio has urged him to return to Turin.

"Looking at Juventus' team, I think it lacks a player that can help the team offensively and Pogba would be the ideal player for that," Marchisio told Tuttosport.

"I never understood his decision to return to Manchester; he had already been there.
