Paul Pogba targets Manchester United return before the end of the season - ‘It’s not over’

Paul Pogba has vowed to try and return to the Manchester United squad before the end of the season.

The Frenchman limped off during the loss at Liverpool on Tuesday and interim manager Ralf Rangnick appeared to rule him out of the rest of the campaign.

With the midfielder’s contract expiring in the summer, it seemed unlikely Pogba would play for the club again amid links with a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

Erik Ten Hag was officially appointed as the club’s next permanent manager on Thursday while Rangnick - who will continue in a consultancy role - has talked up a major rebuild at Old Trafford.

Pogba’s difficult time at United does appear to be coming to an end, with a second exit from the club potentially only a matter of weeks away.

While the former Juventus star, once the world’s most expensive player, has won the Europa League and the Carabao Cup in his second spell, Pogba has been frequently criticised.

Taking to Twitter during United’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal on Saturday, Pogba wrote: “Absolutely gutted to not be able to help the team in today’s game. I will work even harder to come back stronger and hopefully before the end of the season.

“It’s not over. Thank you all for your support, United we would stand!”
