A social media interaction between Paul Pogba and ex-Juventus teammate Claudio Marchisio ended with the latter sending a cryptic message to his friend.
The pair featured alongside one another at the Old Lady between 2012 and 2016 and have remained good mates ever since.
Manchester United star Pogba sent a video message on Instagram wishing Marchisio a happy birthday, who turned 36 on Wednesday.
Posting online, Pogba said: “I miss you so much, my friend, Ciao Principe, ciao!”
But it is what Marchisio said in return that has had tongues wagging. He replied: “You know the way, I’m waiting for you!”
The Italian retired in 2019 during a stint with Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg following a 13-year stay at boyhood club Juventus where he played 389 times, winning seven Serie A titles.
He won four of them alongside Pogba, who left for United for £89m in 2016.
Pogba’s United contract expires in June and this recent social media interaction only adds fuel to the speculation that a renewal may not be on the cards, even if offered, and that indeed his Old Trafford days are numbered.
He returned to training on Monday after almost three months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
However, his set-back hasn’t put off PSG who are rumoured to be in talks over a potential deal for the France midfielder.
Pogba has made more than 200 appearances for United, scoring 38 times and providing 49 assists in all.
Prior to his injury, he had notched seven assists this season, five of which came in the opening two games.
