Paul Pogba injured after just nine minutes vs Liverpool as Man Utd's injury crisis worsens

Paul Pogba came off injured after just nine minutes into Manchester United's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

The France international appeared to injure his right leg and was replaced by Jesse Lingard. Pogba left the field just four minutes after Liverpool opened the scoring through January signing Luis Diaz. Mohamed Salah found space on the right flank and ran into it before picking out the Colombian in the box.

Diaz simply slotted past David de Gea to put the Reds 1-0 up at Anfield. In the immediate aftermath of the goal, Trent Alexander-Arnold smashed the ball into the net but clipped the Man United keeper in the face with the ball.

De Gea reacted angrily and pushed the England international, who squared up to the Spaniard. Salah turned from provider to goalscorer moments later when he doubled Liverpool's advantage.

Man United have been struggling with injuries in recent weeks and are currently without Fred, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Scott McTominay and Edinson Cavani.

Pogba, meanwhile, hasn't been in Man United fans' good books recently and was jeered off the pitch during his side's 3-2 victory over Norwich on the weekend. Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick said of the booing: "I didn't hear it myself but I was informed after the game.

"I can fully understand the fans are frustrated, so are we, but I don't think they should take on individual players. I don't think that is right or correct."

Pogba responded to the fans by cupping his ears. Rangnick added: "I didn't see it, I heard that. It was probably his reaction to the chanting of the fans. As I said, I can understand in a way the fans and supporters but it doesn't make sense to take on individual players."
